Personality
Sarafina has a very cold, indifferent exterior when dealing with people, which has only grown more prominent since the attack. She hates small talk, and she has no interest in pleasantries. She wants to get straight to the point and then go do her own thing. Even with students, she's very strict and does not come across as friendly. Many probably would not like her, because even in one-on-one conversations she would not be lenient or pleasant. However, Sarafina isn't as dark and cold-hearted as she makes herself seem. That's her way of protecting herself. If someone can break down the wall she buries herself behind, they would see that Sarafina is a quiet, self-conscious, introverted young woman who doesn't know how to deal with upsetting events in her life. She compartmentalizes everything, and it often comes back to bite her in the butt.
Sarafina is an extremely intelligent person and has always been one of the top in her class. When in school, she didn't do anything that wasn't related to her academics. She has always been a quick study, and she has always been magically powerful, especially with Transfiguration. It was always her strongest subject. When she's not working, Sarafina often does research on Transfiguration, specifically animagus, and has actually had a few articles published.
As stated earlier, Sarafina has many scars all over her body, including a particularly horrid one on her back. The scars make Sarafina extremely self-conscious and she never wears anything that exposes her back unless she is in the comfort of her own home, and even then, Sarafina is hesitant. In all other aspects of her life, she is extremely proud and confident in herself, but her scars are a sore spot, literally and figuratively. Her scars still hurt her very much as they're still somewhat fresh.
Sarafina is not a patient person with those who fool around and mess up on purpose. However, if she can see that someone is making an honest effort and just needs some extra help, she stays calm and finds some patience for them. She wants everyone to succeed, but she doesn't have the patience to help those that don't want to.
Sarafina isn't a clumsy person at all. In fact, she is quite graceful. That is - when she's not dancing. Besides a simple swaying in someone's arms, Sarafina cannot dance. Anything that requires the quick movement of body limbs usually results in a disaster for the poor girl.
Sarafina doesn't like leaving her comfort zone. During her sixth year and some of her seventh, her girlfriend helped her do just that, but since then Sarafina sticks to what she knows she can do well.
Sarafina does not mind confrontation and will often be the first to slam down an insult in a verbal fight. When she was an auror, she was known for getting into many a fight (including physical ones) with others. However, she keeps to just verbal ones for now. Maybe when she's completely healed she'll be up for something more physical.

History
Sarafina was born on December 1 in a small town in Spain where her father had originally grown up. For the first eight years of her life, Sarafina, her mom and her dad lived in that little town, taking care of her aging grandparents, as is common tradition for those in Spain. However, when Sarafina was eight years old, her grandparents passed away, so her family moved to London where her mother, who was a witch, started working for St. Mungo's (she was a healer). Her father, muggle born, took up a job in an office a couple days a week, but he spent much of his time at home taking care of Sarafina. He would teach her Spanish growing up, so by the time she was ten, Sarafina was bi-lingual. Her mother, who was french, never taught her much except for a few common words. However, in school the year before she was accepted at Hogwarts, French was offered as a class, and her mom had Sarafina take it, thinking it would help teach her about her mom's heritage.
When eleven, Sarafina received an owl, explaining that she was accepted at Hogwarts. She had absolutely no idea what that meant, but she was pretty excited. After all, what eleven year old wouldn't be happy about being told they're a witch? Her mom had to explain to her about what exactly that would entail, including going away to school for most of the year.
At Hogwarts, Sarafina wasn't exactly a loner, but she wasn't a "popular" girl, so to speak. She spent most of her time in the library, studying, or sometimes when it was nice out, in the gardens. She had a few select friends that were into similar things as her, but always put their school work first. As she grew older and many of her friends became interested in boys, Sarafina found herself not feeling the same way. She had figured that she was just a slow maturer, but by the end of fifth year, Sarafina knew something must be wrong. She never said anything to her parents over that summer, but when she went back to school sixth year, she had figured out what was going on: she was gay. At first she though it was just an appreciation of the female form, but she soon realized that she fantasized about kissing girls. Half-way through her sixth year, Sarafina made friends with a Gryffindor girl who she developed a crush on. The girl took Sarafina out of her comfort zone. The spent most of the summer hanging out and when they went back to school for the seventh year, they had developed a romantic relationship.
During her seventh year, Sarafina's father passed away, leaving her mother as the sole bread winner. Unable to keep the house without her father's salary, Sarafina's mother moved back to France to live with her parents. She was allowed to finish out her final year at Hogwarts, but she might as well have been invisible. Sarafina withdrew quite a bit, even from her girlfriend, and graduated without being close to anyone.
Sarafina continued on to become an auror at the Ministry. During her three years of training, she also trained to become an animagus (see below), and by the time she was 20, she was a registered animagus as well as a new auror. She didn't think she knew everything, per say, but Sarafina was definitely very full of herself. She had finished top in her class, and she harnessed unbelievable power that not many others possessed. Many thought her attitude of superiority would get her into quite a bit of trouble, but Sarafina ignored them. However, in her last year as an auror, Sarafina and her team went into infiltrate a known group of Death Eaters, and there was mass chaos. The team got split up, and Sarafina was captured and tortured for a couple days before a rescue team could finally get to her. She was rushed to St. Mungo's and very nearly died. All over her body, there are many scars, the nastiest one running along her back in the formation of an X.
