Bess relates best to animals. Her best friends are her Owl Fezziwig and her Cat Ignatius. She would much rather spend time with them than with anyone else. And it's not because she's a loner, she would just prefer to tell them her opinions on things, just to have a sounding board, not someone who would talk back and quite possibly discount what she has to say. She is proud of her knowledge and nothing gives her more joy than sharing that knowledge with her best friends. She won't turn away from an intellectual conversation with her fellow professors or even a student for that matter. Anything is better than small talk.

Bess was raised in an orphanage and because of this, never knew her parents. She wasn't close with any of the children her own age. She helped the wizards and witches at the orphanage take care of the children younger than her. She's always wanted a child of her own. Just one. One that she would love forever and never abandon the way her parents abandoned her. She thought she had this with Wentwortb Davenport while she was married to him, but it was something she never approached him about. He had already had his only daughter taken away from him, and Bess knew that their marriage wasn't as solid as she thought it was earlier in their marriage. She would never have wanted to take another child away from him, or keep him from seeing that child in any way. Because she knew that once she left him, she'd never want to see him again. It would hurt too much.

Bess isn't looking for a relationship. She's too focused on her work. But will a wrench be thrown into her plans when she arrives at Hogwarts and sees that her ex-husband, and the love of her existence, Wentworth Davenport is working at the wizarding school as well? She's going to do her best to keep their relationship purely professional. She did not come here to reconcile with him, and she didn't want him to think she had. She doesn't want him to think that she searched him down and came to work here just because he was here. It was far from that. She came for the positions. She is here to teach the Care of Magical Creatures classes and be the new head of the Hufflepuff House. (Something Georg Hipswitch is particularly proud of.)

Kit doesn't see the point for ... what, a professor to teach us about animals? They're creatures and they walk the earth just like the rest of the world. What's the big deal? She also thinks that Professor Fritzpatrick is nothing but a girl. Alright, so Kit is a girl herself, but you don't see her tiptoeing through the tulips with her animal friends. Seriously, she's like one of those cat ladies. You know, the ones you hear about dying and they find them months later, dead in their loft, and all the cats have eaten her skin and have started feasting on her internal organs. Get a real profession, Fritzpatrick, and leave the instruction to the real professors.

[Jarek Burns]

She's a pretty woman and Jarek has always have a thing for pretty women so whether she appreciates it or not she would find herself in his attention. Jarek would be insulted but would still respect her wishes if she were to deny his affections but he would also still try to keep things friendly. He generally gets on great with the opposite sex so I can see them being friends unless she is dead set against that for whatever strange female reason. heh

Bess & Kit

Bess tries to show respect to all students, even those who don't really deserve it. Kit definitely pushes her limits. Even though Kit is a prefect, these two don't mesh well. Their personalities are completely different and she can tell that Kit would rather skip class than attend, but because she is a prefect, she has to attend. Bess sees that, but doesn't let it affect the way she treats her. She will always treat students fairly, no matter how she feels about them personally.

Bess & Jarek

Bess hasn't met Jarek yet, but she doesn't see herself not getting along with him. The could certainly be pretty good friends. She isn't looking for a relationship right now, but that's just because she's guarded herself because of her ex-husband being around, and he's the love of her life. Bess could certainly find a confidence in Jarek, especially since he is the DADA professor and she wants to understand it more so she can understand Wen more, so she would most definitely see benefits in being friends with Jarek.
